As the summer days are starting to come to an end each one of us begins to make all kind of changes on various aspects of our lives from our daily habits to our body care routines. One of the most unpleasant effect that the colder seasons have on our skin is accelerated dryness. Change some of your skin care products. Because your skin is prone to dryness this season, you should consider replacing some of your skin care products for ones that have formulas that don't affect the skin as much. Try to choose milder formulas with 5 to 10% alcohol instead of those with 20% alcohol that are astringent. Rosewater facial toners work well for almost all skin types. Continue using sunscreen. Just because the sun rays are not as visible as they were during the summer days doesn't mean that you should give up the habit of religiously applying sunscreen on a daily basis. While you are not at the risk of developing sunburns anymore the UVA rays still have a powerful effect over your skin. UVA rays cause wrinkles, brown spots and accelerates skin aging so it's important to make sure that you apply it diligently 20 minutes before getting outside.
Consider using a humidifier. Even the air in our homes gets drier as the temperatures begin to drop, affecting our skin in some cases. While using moisturizing cream is a good recommendation you can also tackle the problem on a larger scale by purchasing a humidifier. Generally our body needs about 30 to 50% air moisture to look its best while a heated room might only have 10% air moisture so if you feel any discomfort this might be a good idea for you.

Protect your lips and your hands. Your hands and your lips will probably the first ones that will be affected by temperature changes so make sure that you protect them properly. Use a non petroleum based lip balm which protects your lips better than petroleum based ones. Also using hydrating protein based homemade hydrating facial masks can also help you maintain a radiant skin. You should leave this masks on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water. This is one of the most affordable and easy methods to add moisture to your skin.
Exercise and eat healthy. Despite the great variety of commercials promoting products that nourish your skin, nothing can replace a healthy diet and a well designed exercise plan. Only a balanced diet and regular exercise sessions can help you maintain a youthful, healthy skin. Taking vitamins and minerals supplements can also be beneficial, however you should always consult a doctor to make sure that you get the supplements your body most needs.
